Do-Ashkaft Cave

The Do-Ashkaft Cave, being the Middle Paleolithic cave site, is located at north of Kermanshah, near Taq-e Bostan. It is located about 1600 metres above the sea level and its entrance faces south, overlooking the national park of Kuhestan. The site was discovered by two Iranian researchers, F. Biglari and S. Heydari in 1999 and during next four years was sampled each month which resulted in a rich Middle Paleolithic lithic collection.

Jeyhounabad

Jeyhounabad is a city in Kermanshah Province, in the middle of the western part of Iran. It is 525 kilometers from Tehran. The city lies in close proximity to Mount Bisotoun, known for its rock relief in which Darius the Great, the Achaemenian King, had the narrative of his exploits engraved around B.C. 500. At the turn of the 20th century, Jeyhounabad, which was a typical village of clay houses, had about one hundred inhabitants. The main source of income was agriculture.

It is the first established museum in Iran that devoted to Paleolithic period of Iran. The museum occupies four rooms with finds from various Paleolithic and Neolithic sites in Iran, dating from ca. 1,000,000 years to some 8,000 years ago.
