Tennessee River Gorge

The Tennessee River Gorge is a 26-mile canyon formed by the Tennessee River once known as Cash Canyon. It is the fourth largest river gorge in the Eastern United States. The gorge is cut into the Cumberland Plateau as the river winds its way into Alabama from Tennessee. Nickajack Dam

Nickajack Dam is a hydroelectric dam in Marion County in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is one of nine dams on the Tennessee River owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, which built the dam in the mid-1960s to replace the outdated Hales Bar Dam 6 miles upstream. The dam impounds the 10,370-acre Nickajack Lake and feeds into Guntersville Lake. Nickajack Dam is named for a Cherokee village once located just upstream from the dam (the site is now submerged).

Nickajack Lake

Nickajack Lake is the reservoir created by Nickajack Dam as part of the Tennessee Valley Authority. The lake stretches from Nickajack Dam to Chickamauga Dam, and runs along the shores of Chattanooga, TN. The stretch of the Tennessee River commonly referred to as the "Grand Canyon of Tennessee" also is part of Nickajack Lake. Full pool for Nickajack Lake is approximately 633.5 feet above sea level, and remains consistent during the course of the year, unlike nearby Chickamauga Lake.

Marion Memorial Bridge

The Marion Memorial Bridge is a 4-span metal truss bridge on U.S. Route 41 in Marion County, Tennessee. It was built in 1929. The main span is 369 feet, and the bridge has a total length of 1870 feet. The bridge is historic, and the Marion Memorial Bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 25, 2007. The bridge features an unusual truss configuration that is a hybrid of the Pratt and K-Truss configurations.
