Nazarene Theological Seminary
Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS) is a Christian seminary affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene. It is located in Kansas City, Missouri, which was formerly also the location of the headquarters of the Church of the Nazarene. (Now the Church of the Nazarene Global Ministry Center is in Lenexa, Kansas. ) The seminary was established by the Eleventh General Assembly in June 1944 and started its first school year in 1945 with 61 students. Fairyland Park
Fairyland Park was an amusement park, located at 7501 Prospect Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri. The park operated from 1923 to 1977, at which time it was closed due to lack of attendance to the park and storm damage in late 1977. The park was bought by the Brancato family in 1944. The park was segregated until 1964, when blacks were first allowed to attend the park. Admission to blacks came only after protest marches, demonstrations and arrests for blocking the entrance.
Hogan Preparatory Academy
Hogan Preparatory Academy (formerly Bishop Hogan High School) is a charter high school at 1221 East Meyer Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. Although a public school it is not part of the Kansas City, Missouri School District since it is a charter school. As of March 2011 it had an enrollment of 348 making it the 176th largest high school in Missouri. It has 34 teachers. The school in March 2011 had an enrollment that was 98 percent African American.
