Apache National Forest
Apache National Forest was established by the U.S. Forest Service in Arizona and New Mexico on July 1, 1908 with 1,302,711 acres from portions of Black Mesa National Forest. In 1974 entire forest was administratively combined with Sitgreaves National Forest to create Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest.

It lies {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:33|36|36|N|109|6|24|W|type:city | |name= }} (33.6100552, -109.1067396), at an elevation of 5,758 feet (1,755 m). The community was originally named for Nat Whittum, an original settler who was killed at the site in 1891.
