Liljeholmen (borough)
Liljeholmen was a borough (stadsdelsområde) in the southern part of Stockholm until 1 January 2007. It was primarily made up of Liljeholmen. The other districts that made up the borough were Aspudden, Gröndal, Midsommarkransen, Västberga and a portion of Hägersten. The population as of 2004 was 30,450 on an area of 6.83 km², giving it a density of 4,458/km². In 2007, Liljeholmen merged with the borough of Hägersten to form the Hägersten-Liljeholmen borough.
Liljeholmen
Liljeholmen is a district in South Stockholm, organized into the borough with the same name. {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:59|18|36|N|18|01|21|E| |primary |name= }} In 1860 Liljeholmen became the first suburb outside Stockholm city limit. The district was as municipal community in Brännkyrka municipality until 1913, when it was incorporated into Stockholm. During the 1912 Summer Olympics, it hosted parts of the cycling and equestrian events.
Långholmen Prison
Långholmen Prison, officially Långholmen Central Prison, was historically one of the biggest prison facilities in Sweden with more than 500 cells, located on the island of Långholmen in Stockholm. It was built 1874-1880 as the central prison of Sweden, and was in use until 1975. Today the building is being used as a hotel/hostel and museum, as well as to accommodate a folk high school. Part of the prison was demolished in 1982.
Hornstull
Hornstull is an area in western Södermalm, Stockholm. Hornstull is actually the name of where the streets Hornsgatan and Långholmsgatan intersect. Up to the early 19th century it was also a city toll ("tull" means "toll"). Hornstull also has a metro station, which opened on April 5, 1964. Two of the subdivisions of Hornstull are Drakenberg, and Högalid, after which the neighborhood school (Högalidsskolan) and church (Högalidskyrkan) are named.
Tantolunden
Tantolunden is a park near Zinkensdamm and Hornstull in Södermalm, the southern part of central Stockholm.
Långholmen
Långholmen is an island in central Stockholm, between Södermalm and Kungsholmen. Långholmen is a green oasis in the city, and a popular spot for walks, picnics and swimming. The small beaches, located right outside the former prison, are usually crowded in summer. However, up until 1975, Långholmen was used as a prison island. Since 1989 Långholmen Prison has been a 112-room hotel and hostel, renovated in 2007/2008. In the former prison hospital there is now a restaurant and pub.
Midsommarkransen
Midsommarkransen is a suburban district of Stockholm with a history from 1775. The underground metro station opened in 1964.
National Archives of Sweden
The National Archives of Sweden is one of the oldest public agencies in Sweden, with a history leading back to the Middle Ages. The chief of Riksarkivet is called the Riksarkivarie. A branch within the Archives has a special responsibility for public heraldry in Sweden. The head of this branch has the title State Herald (statsheraldiker). Since 1963, the Royal Palace Archives at Stockholm Palace is a section under the National Archives.
Reimersholme
Reimersholme is a small island in central Stockholm, lying to the west of Södermalm and to the south of the neighbouring island Långholmen. As of 2006 Reimersholme is inhabited by 2,324 people, living in 1,527 dwellings, and with an average annual income of SEK 306,500. 12 percent of the inhabitants have a foreign background. Until June 24th 1798 Reimersholme was called Räkneholmen.
Västerbron
Västerbron (Swedish: The Western Bridge) is an arch bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. With a total length exceeding 600 m, 340 m of which stretches over water, it is one of the major bridges in Stockholm, offering one of the most panoramic views of the central part of the city centering on Gamla stan, the old town.
Långholmsbron
Långholmsbron is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Connecting the major island Södermalm to the minor island Långholmen, it forms an extension to the street Bergsundsgatan. The bridge was formerly called Spinnhusbron in reference to the precursor to the Långholmen prison, and, popularly, Suckarnas bro, also in reference to the prison. Its present name stems from 1885. The section of Västerbron, the bridge overpassing Långholmsbron, used to be called Långholmsbron.
Pålsundsbron
Pålsundsbron is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching over the small water course Pålsundet, the bridge connects the major island Södermalm to the minor island Långholmen. The name Pålsundet, on old maps called Påhl Sundet, or Pålsund, refers to the poles blocking the canal from ships trying to reach central Stockholm without paying the required duty.
Reimersholmsbron
Reimersholmsbron or Reimersbron is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden, connecting the major island Södermalm to the minor island Reimersholme. The first bridge passing over to Reimersholme is present on a map dated 1819. It is said to have been built by lieutenant general Johan August Sandel in preparation for a visit by Charles XIV. The present bridge was built 1942-43.
Liljeholmsbron
Liljeholmsbron is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching over Liljeholmsviken, it connects the western end of the major island Södermalm to the southern mainland district Liljeholmen.
Långa raden
Långa raden are two long buildings on the islet Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm, Sweden. The two buildings, individually known as Västra/Östra boställshuset ("The Western/Eastern Residence House") and collectively built in 1699-1702 to accommodate the 200 bodyguards of King Charles XII, were built to the design of Nicodemus Tessin the Younger using bricks from several palaces, in Ekolsund, Gripsholm, Nyköping, Eskilstuna, and Svartsjö.
Rålambshovsparken
Rålambshovsparken (sometimes called Rålis) is a big park in Marieberg district in Kungsholmen, Stockholm. It is overpassed by a section of the bridge Västerbron.
Trekanten (Stockholm)
Trekanten (English: The Triangle) is a small lake in southern-central Stockholm, Sweden. South of it is the lake Långsjön With a small drainage area with no major feeders and originally lacking natural beauty, Trekanten is today located in a park furnished with an artificial bathing beach and various planted-out fish species. As such it is considered as of great recreational value and is popular for bathing and fishing.
Liljeholmen metro station
Liljeholmen is a Stockholm metro station in the city’s southern Liljeholmen district. It is on the Red line (T13 and T14). The station also has a cross-platform interchange with the Tvärbanan tramway, and is home to a bus terminal. Liljeholmen metro station is also connected to Nybodadepån, a depot/garage for subway trains and buses, which is located in the south part of Liljeholmen.
Västerbroplan
Västerbroplan is a traffic intersection in Kungsholmen, Stockholm. It lies just west of Västerbron and just south of Fridhemsplan. It is also the location of DN-Skrapan, the offices of several newspapers and associated agencies. While its namesake, Dagens Nyheter, no longer resides in the building, it is still very much associated with press and journalism.
Heleneborg
Heleneborg is an estate on Södermalm, a part of the city of Stockholm, Sweden. It is opposite Långholmen island (home to Långholmen prison until 1975). The property was bought in 1669 by Jonas Österling and was used by the Swedish tobacco manufacturing company (Tobakskompaniet) for tobacco production. However, after a conflict with both the company and the royal court, Österling went bankrupt and died in poverty in 1691. His estate was burnt down in 1701.

Västberga helicopter robbery
The Västberga helicopter robbery occurred on 23 September 2009 at 05:15 CET when a G4S cash service depot was robbed in Västberga in southern Stockholm, Sweden. The robbers used a stolen Bell 206 Jet Ranger as transport and landed on the rooftop of the G4S building. The police were unable to use their own helicopters to pursue the robbers since decoy bombs had been placed close to them.
Nyboda Depot
Nyboda Depot is a garage/depot for subway trains and buses of Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL), located in Liljeholmen, Stockholm Municipality, along Hägerstensvägen and under Essingeleden. Nybodadepån is connected with Liljeholmen metro station via a bridge over Hägerstensvägen and a tunnel in the mountain under Nybohov. Nybodadepån started operations for buses and trams in 1945, then called Brännkyrkahallen. 1963–64, it was rebuilt to be adapted for the cars of Stockholm Metro.
