Monasterboice

The historic ruins of Monasterboice are of an early Christian settlement in County Louth in Ireland, north of Drogheda. It was founded in the late 5th century by Saint Buithe who died around 521, and was an important centre of religion and learning until the founding of nearby Mellifont Abbey in 1142. The site houses two churches built in the 14th century or later and an earlier round tower, but it is most famous for its 10th century high crosses.

Dunleer

Dunleer is a town and townland in County Louth, Ireland. Dunleer town is situated midway between Dundalk and Drogheda. It is the principal Town Borough in the Barony of Ferrard. It has a Charter dating back to 1252. Situated on the White River, it is the junction of several roads that intersect the town, including the R132 (old N1), R169 and R170 regional roads. Located upstream is the White River Mill, which is a 17th century flour mill, which is open at times to visitors.

Muiredach's High Cross

Muiredach's High Cross is a high cross from the 10th or possibly 9th century, located at the ruined monastic site of Monasterboice, County Louth, Ireland. There are two other high crosses at Monasterboice; in local terms Muiredach's cross is also known as the South Cross. Muiredach's cross has been described as the most beautiful specimen of Celtic stonework now in existence; and the crosses at Monasterboice have been stated to be Ireland's greatest contribution to European sculpture.

Tinure (Irish: Tigh an úir, meaning "house of the yew") is a small village and townland in the parish of Monasterboice, County Louth, Ireland. The official spelling of the village's name is Tinure (which is derived from Tigh an úir) however it is sometimes mistakenly referred to locally as "Tenure". Tinure is predominantly rural in character, although there has been some new housing constructed in recent years.
