Roskilde University (Danish: Roskilde Universitet, RUC) is a Danish public university founded in 1972 and located in Trekroner in the Eastern part of Roskilde. The university awards bachelor and master's degrees as well as Ph.D. degrees.
Roskilde County
Roskilde Amt (English: Roskilde County) is a former county on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The county was abolished effective January 1, 2007, when it merged into Region Sjælland (i.e. Region Zealand). Roskilde is also the name of the county's capital, and the name of a municipality. The small city of Roskilde is located 30 km west of Copenhagen. Danish kings were traditionally crowned there, in the Roskilde Cathedral.
Gundsø
Gundsø was a municipality in Roskilde county on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in east Denmark. 1 January 2007 the municipality of Gundsø merged with the municipality of Roskilde and the municipality of Ramsø as a result of the structural reform. The area of Gundsø municipality was 64 km², with a total population of 15,749 (2005). Its last mayor was Evan Lynnerup, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.
Roskilde Festival
Roskilde Festival is a festival held south of Roskilde in Denmark and is one of the six biggest annual music festivals in Europe. It was created in 1971 by two high school students, Mogens Sandfær and Jesper Switzer Møller, and promoter Carl Fischer. In 1972, the festival was taken over by the Roskilde Foundation, which has since run the festival as a non-profit organization for development and support of music, culture and humanism.

Jyllinge
Jyllinge is a town with a population of 10,158 (1 January 2012) in the municipality of Roskilde in the Region Sjælland, Denmark. It lies on the eastern bank of Roskilde Fjord and is surrounded by open land. It is becoming an increasingly popular town due to the scenic surroundings and relative proximity to Copenhagen. Jyllinge has two churches. The old medieval church, built around 1100 is one of the oldest in Denmark.
Roskilde Cathedral
Roskilde Cathedral, in the city of Roskilde on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark, is a cathedral of the Lutheran Church of Denmark. The first Gothic cathedral to be built of brick, it encouraged the spread of the Brick Gothic style throughout Northern Europe. Constructed during the 12th and 13th centuries, the cathedral incorporates both Gothic and Romanesque architectural features in its design. Until the 20th century, it was Zealand's only cathedral.
Roskilde Airport
Roskilde Airport, officially known as Copenhagen Airport, Roskilde (Danish: Københavns Lufthavn, Roskilde), is located 4 nautical miles (7 km) southeast of Roskilde near the town Tune. It was opened in 1973 as the first of three planned relief airports around Copenhagen. These plans were shelved shortly after, and the two other relief airports never made it past the planning stage.
Viking Ship Museum (Roskilde)
The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde is the Danish national museum for ships, seafaring and boatbuilding in the prehistoric and medieval period. Around the year 1070, five Viking ships were deliberately sunk at Skuldelev in Roskilde Fjord in order to block the most important fairway and to protect Roskilde from enemy attack from the sea. These ships, later known as the Skuldelev ships, were excavated in 1962.

Himmelev
Himmelev is an area in the city of Roskilde in Denmark. It contains primarily parcel houses, but one of the three colleges in Roskilde, Himmelev Gymnasium, is also located there. The area is largely residential, however, industry includes a factory for Stryhns pate. Sports facilities consist of a sports centre located next to Himmelev Gymnasium with six soccer pitches and indoor facilities for eight badminton courts and a court for handball, five-a-side football and other sports.

The biggest city is Roskilde, the municipality covers an area of 212 km², and it has a total population of 80,687 (2008). Its mayor is Joy Mogensen, a member of Socialdemokraterne. Neighboring municipalities are Egedal to the northeast, Greve and Solrød to the southeast, Høje-Taastrup to the east, Køge to the south and Lejre to the west.
Kingdom of Elleore
The Kingdom of Elleore is a micronation located on the island of Elleore in the Roskilde Fjord, north of Roskilde on the Danish island of Zealand. The island was purchased by a group of Copenhagen schoolteachers in 1944 for use as a summer camp. They proclaimed the island's tongue-in-cheek "independence" as a Kingdom as a gentle parody of the government structure and royal traditions of Denmark.

St. Catherine's Priory, Roskilde, was a priory of Dominican friars located in Roskilde. It was dissolved in the Reformation and a private house built on the site, which in 1699 became the Lutheran Roskilde Adelige Jomfrukloster (now known as Roskilde Kloster), a women's collegiate foundation.
Roskilde Abbey
Roskilde Abbey or Our Lady's Abbey, Roskilde (Roskilde Kloster or Vor Frue Kloster) was a monastery of nuns dedicated to Saint Mary the Virgin in Roskilde in Denmark. It was founded in the early 12th century for Benedictine nuns, but in 1177 became part of the Cistercian reform movement.

Roskilde station
Roskilde Station is the principal railway station serving the city of Roskilde, Denmark, situated on the Danish Main Line between Copenhagen and Jutland. The station is also a terminus for the Lille Syd Line which connects Roskilde to Næstved by way of Køge, and the Nordvest Line to Kalundborg. Completed in 1847, it is the oldest railway station in Denmark still in use. It was listed in 1964.
