Margaret River, Western Australia
Margaret River is a town in the South West of Western Australia, located in the valley of the eponymous Margaret River, 277 kilometres south of Perth, the state capital. Its Local Government Area is the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River.
Shire of Augusta-Margaret River
The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River is a local government area in the south-west corner of the South West region of Western Australia, approximately 270 kilometres south of Perth. The shire covers an area of 2,243 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 12,913 people (June 2011), about half of whom live in the towns of Margaret River and Augusta. Nearly half of Augusta-Margaret River's land area is state forest or national park.
Margaret River
Margaret River is a river in southwest Western Australia. Although small and unremarkable, it is the eponym of the iconic town and tourist region of Margaret River, famous for its surfing, caves and wine. The river arises from a catchment of just 40 square kilometres in the Whicher Ranges. For much of its middle reaches it passes through land cleared for agriculture, especially viticulture. There is a weir across the river just above the town.
Cape Freycinet
Cape Freycinet is a point on the coast between Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste in the south west of Western Australia. It is within the Augusta-Margaret Local Government Area, and the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. It is not far from the Lake Cave and is approached from the Caves Road along Conto Road. Named after the family of Freycinet, which had two brothers Henri Desaules and Louis de Freycinet - who were on the Baudin expedition.
Calgardup Bay (Western Australia)
Calgardup Bay is located in the Australian state of Western Australia, 10 km south-west of the town of Margaret River. The tourist resort of Prevelly is located at the northern end of the bay. In 1876, the SS Georgette was wrecked in Calgardup Bay and an outline of rusting remains of the hull can still be seen off Redgate beach. It is located in an area between Capes Naturaliste and Leeuwin—where most points and bays have suitable conditions for surfing.

Witchcliffe, Western Australia
Witchcliffe is a small town in the South West region of Western Australia, located a few kilometres south of Margaret River on the Bussell Highway. The name originates from a cave in the area, Witchcliffe cave, that was recorded by a surveyor in 1900. It is believed the name was given by the Bussell family whose property, Wallcliffe, was established in the area in the 1850s. In 1924 the government extended the Flinders Bay Branch Railway to Witchcliffe.

Sussex Land District is a land district (cadastral division) of Western Australia, located within the South-West Land Division on the state's west coast. It covers the south-western corner of the state and includes the townsites of Busselton, Margaret River and Augusta as well as Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin.
Margaret River (wine region)
Margaret River is the foremost Geographical Indication wine region in the South West Australia Zone, with nearly 5,500 hectares under vine and over 138 wineries as at 2008. Margaret River wine region is made up predominately of boutique size wine producers; although winery operations range from the smallest crushing 3.5 tonne per year to the largest around 7000 tonne. The climate of Margaret River is more strongly maritime-influenced than any other major Australian region.

Margaret River Senior High School is a comprehensive public high school located in Margaret River, a regional centre 277 kilometres south of Perth, Western Australia. The school was established in 1955 and by 2012 had an enrollment of 576 students between Year 8 and Year 12, approximately 1% of whom were Aboriginal.

Prevelly, Western Australia
Prevelly is a townsite in the South West region of Western Australia. It is located on the coast at the mouth of Margaret River at the northern end of Calgardup Bay. At the 2006 census, Prevelly had a population of 157. Privately subdivided in the early 1960s and named Prevelly, the shire petitioned for a townsite to be declared in 1977 and it was duly gazetted in 1978. The town was named after the Preveli monastery on Crete. The Cape to Cape Track passes through Prevelly.
Cape Mentelle
Cape Mentelle is a limestone headland on the Indian Ocean coast of south-western Western Australia. It is within the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, just north of the mouth of the Margaret River and 9 km west of the town of Margaret River. It lies on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge, half way between Cape Naturaliste 50 km to the north, and Cape Leeuwin 50 km to the south, on the route of the Cape to Cape walking track.
