The Town of East Fremantle is a local government area in the southern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth, located immediately northeast of the port city of Fremantle and about 17 kilometres southwest of Perth's central business district. The Town covers an area of 3.1 square kilometres, maintains 46 km of roads and has a population of 6,697 (2006).

The northern part of the suburb was once home to the Leighton Marshalling Yards run by the former Western Australian Government Railways which changed to Westrail.

John Curtin College of the Arts is a high school with student intake from the greater Fremantle area, in Western Australia. The school currently has over 4 students attending. Originally named John Curtin High School after the late prime minister John Curtin, it was the first government-built secondary school in the south-west metropolitan region of Western Australia. It was built to replace the twin co-ed schools Fremantle Boys' School and Princess May's Girls' School.
Preston Point
Preston Point is a small point in the Swan River, Western Australia. It is located in the Perth suburb of East Fremantle, about 12 km south west of the city centre. On the other side of the river is Rocky Bay and the suburbs of North Fremantle and Mosman Park. It was named by Sir James Stirling in 1827 after Lieutenant William Preston.
Fremantle Grammar School
Fremantle Grammar School is a defunct school and heritage-listed building in Fremantle, Western Australia. The building stands at 200 High Street, opposite Monument Hill. It was built by Melbourne architect Charles Inksep in the Gothic Revival style, from limestone and corrugated asbestos. The school was established as a public school by the Anglican church in 1885. Henry Briggs was sent from England to help establish it, and was its head-master until 1897.

The ground was opened in 1906, and underwent a large redevelopment in 1953. It current serves as the home ground of the East Fremantle Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL).

It has been under the control of the Department of Defence. The area was originally known as Dwerda Weeardinup, or 'place of the Dingo Spirit' to local indigenous Noongar inhabitants.

The East Fremantle Football Club Hall of Fame was launched on 2 July 2012 when 52 inductees were celebrated during a dinner at the East Fremantle Football Club Social Hall. Despite being the most successful team in the West Australian Football League, the East Fremantle Football Club had never had a Hall of Fame, the closest being the 1997 Team of the Century, created to celebrate the club's 100th year.
