York, Western Australia
York is the oldest inland town in Western Australia, situated 97 kilometres east of Perth in the Avon Valley near Northam, and is the seat of the Shire of York. Home to 2,088 people at the 2006 census, it was settled in 1831, only two years after Perth was settled in 1829.

The Shire of York is a local government area in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, covering an area of 2,133 square kilometres just beyond the eastern fringe of Perth's metropolitan area. The Shire's seat of government is the town of York.
Gwambygine, Western Australia
Gwambygine is a small town in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. It is situated between the towns of York and Beverley and is on the banks of the Avon River. One of the first known settlers was Rev. J.B. Wittenoom who was granted land in the area in 1831 and named his property Gwambygine . This property was later purchased by the state government in 1901 and sub-divided into blocks called Gwambygine Estate.
