Camp Julien

Camp Julien was the main base for the Canadian contingent of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan. The camp was named after Lance Corporal George Patrick Julien, a Canadian Army soldier who was awarded the Military Medal as a Private, for his actions at Hill 187 in Korea in May 1953. LCpl Julien was a member of 3rd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, which was the first unit to occupy Camp Julien.

Kabul University

Kabul University (KU) is located in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. It was founded in 1931 but officially opened for classes in 1932. Kabul University is attended by 7,000 students, of which 1,700 are women. Hamidullah Amin is the chancellor of the university. The university is still recovering from the long period of war and chaos in the country. The main building was renovated about 500 meters from the old one, which has almost the same design.

Paghman

Paghman is a town in the hills near Afghanistan's capital of Kabul. It is the center of the Paghman District which has a population of about 120,000 (2002 official UNHCR est. ), of which 70% are Pashtuns and 30% Tajiks. The Paghman District is situated in the western part of Kabul Province. The Paghman Gardens is the major attraction for which Paghman was once called the capital garden of Afghanistan.

National Museum of Afghanistan

The National Museum of Afghanistan, also known as the Afghan National Museum or sometimes the Kabul Museum, is a two-story building located 9 km southwest of the center of Kabul City in Afghanistan. It was built in 1922 during the reign of King Amanullah Khan. The collection inside the museum was transferred from another location in the city and began as a 'Cabinet of Curiosities' in 1919.

Kam Air Flight 904

Kam Air Flight 904 was involved in a deadly aviation disaster over the Pamir mountains of Afghanistan in February 2005. The incident took place shortly after 4:00 p.m. local time on February 3, when a private Kam Air Boeing 737-200 jet aircraft went missing in Afghanistan during a domestic flight from the western city of Herat to the capital Kabul. The crash is the deadliest air disaster in the history of Afghanistan.

Darul Aman Palace

Darul Aman Palace ("abode of peace" or, in a double meaning "abode of Aman") is a European-style palace, now ruined, located about sixteen kilometers (ten miles) outside of the center of Kabul, Afghanistan. Darul Aman Palace was built in the early 1920s as a part of the endeavours by King Amanullah Khan to modernize Afghanistan. It was to be part of the new capital city (also called Darul Aman or Darulaman) that the king was intending to build, connected to Kabul through a narrow-gauge railway.

Hotel Inter-Continental Kabul

The Inter-Continental (also known as the Inter-Con) is a three star hotel located in the Kârte Parwân neighbourhood in western Kabul, Afghanistan. It served as the nation's first international luxury hotel, one of the most visited by foreigners since its opening in 1969. The hotel has 200 rooms and is equipped with a swimming pool, a gym, and about four restaurants for dine in or room service.

Tajbeg Palace

Tajbeg Palace or Tapa-e-Tajbeg Palace is a Palace built in the 1920s and located about ten miles (16 km) outside of the center of Kabul, Afghanistan. The stately mansion sits atop a knoll among foothills where the Afghan royal family once hunted and picnicked. It should not be confused with Darul Aman Palace, which is about 0.8 miles northeast from Tajbeg.
