Worlds of Fun is a 235-acre amusement park in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. The park opened in 1973 and was originally built by Mid-America Enterprises, owned by Lamar Hunt. In 1995, the company, now known as Hunt-Midwest, sold Worlds of Fun to Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which currently owns the park. Fairfax Bridge (Missouri River)
The Fairfax Bridge is a truss bridge over the Missouri River that handles southbound U.S. Route 69 from Platte County, Missouri to Kansas City, Kansas. Its sister bridge the Platte Purchase Bridge handles northbound traffic. It is part of the Seventh Street Trafficway into Fairfax, Kansas. Ground was broken April 21, 1931. The bridge was completed September 27, 1934. It cost $600,000 and was previously a toll bridge. It is 2,486.5 feet long and has 13 spans on 15 piers.
Platte Purchase Bridge
The Platte Purchase Bridge is a truss bridge over the Missouri River that handles northbound U.S. Route 69 from Kansas City, Kansas to Platte County, Missouri. Its sister bridge the Fairfax Bridge handles southbound traffic. It is part of the Seventh Street Trafficway between Fairfax, Kansas and Riverside, Missouri. It is named for the Platte Purchase. It was built in 1957 and previously was a toll bridge.
Antioch Center
Antioch Center was An open air type center with the center portion not enclosed, later as "malls", became more popular it was enclosed, shopping mall it was located in Kansas City North, Missouri, United States. The mall opened in 1956, and was once home to the first location for ShowBiz Pizza Place, a pizzeria chain that would later become known as Chuck E. Cheese's. It also housed a branch of the Forum Cafeterias, the chain's first suburban location.
Winnetonka High School
Winnetonka High School is a high school in the North Kansas City School District. The school is located at 5815 NE 48 Street in Kansas City North, Missouri. Winnetonka opened in 1971. Originally built to hold 2,000 students, it now has approximately 1,600. In Fall 2008, some of Winnetonka's students were transferred to the district's new high school, Staley High School, as well as North Kansas City High School due to boundary changes.
Fairfax Field
Fairfax Field was a World War II airfield used by the United States Army Air Forces Air Technical Service Command and Air Transport Command. It was adjacent to the North American Aviation Company's manufacturing plant for the B-25 Mitchell medium bomber in Kansas City, Kansas. ATSC operated an aircraft modification center at the airfield, while ATC's Ferrying Division flew newly manufactured B-25s out from the airfield to training and combat units.
