Convention Center (JTA Skyway)
Convention Center is an above-ground station on the JTA Skyway rail system in Jacksonville, Florida. When the station opened in 1989 it was known as Terminal Station. It is located on Bay Street just west of Johnson Street, adjacent to the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center (the historic Jacksonville Union Station), and is the western terminus of the system. LaVilla Museum
The LaVilla Museum is a museum of African American history and culture located in the 1929 Ritz Theater in Jacksonville, Florida. The museum opened in 1999. The museum documents the culture and history of people of African descent (most slaves, some free, and not all Americans) in northeast Florida prior to that territory's entry as a U.S. state in 1845, as well as LaVilla neighborhood of downtown Jacksonville (which was once a large and thriving African American community).
Ritz Theatre (Jacksonville)
The Ritz Theatre is an African-American oriented theatre in the LaVilla neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. The theater, which seats 426, is used for a variety of music, dance and theatrical productions, as well as movies. The spacious lobby is also used for private functions. Just off the lobby is the LaVilla Museum which holds 11,000 square feet of exhibits. LaVilla is considered "the mecca for African American culture and heritage" in Florida.
J. P. Small Memorial Stadium
J. P. Small Memorial Stadium is a baseball park in Jacksonville, Florida. It is located in the Durkeeville community in northwest Jacksonville. Constructed in 1912 and rebuilt in 1936, it was the city's first municipal recreation field, and served as its primary baseball park before the construction of Wolfson Park in 1954. Throughout the years the stadium has been known at various times as Barrs Field, Durkee Field, and the Myrtle Avenue Ball Park.
