Rajōmon
Rajōmon also called Rashōmon, was the gate built at the southern end of the monumental Suzaku Avenue in the ancient Japanese cities of Heijō-kyō and Heian-kyō, in accordance with the Chinese grid-patterned city layout. At the other far north-end of Suzaku Avenue, one would reach the Suzakumon Gate, the main entrance to the palace zone. As of 2007, the southern end of Suzaku Avenue and the possible remainder of the equivalent gate in Fujiwara-kyō are yet to be discovered.
Suzakumon
The Suzakumon was the main gate built in the center of the south end of the imperial palaces in the Japanese ancient capitals of Fujiwara-kyō, Heijō-kyō, and later Heian-kyō. The placement followed the ancient Chinese palace model requirements at the time, where Suzaku, the Vermilion Bird was the Guardian of the South. (See Four Symbols for more. ) It was said to be the site where foreign dignitaries were received by the Emperor.
Katsura Imperial Villa
The Katsura Imperial Villa, or Katsura Detached Palace, is a villa with associated gardens and outbuildings in the western suburbs of Kyoto, Japan. It is one of Japan's most important large-scale cultural treasures. Its gardens are a masterpiece of Japanese gardening, and the buildings are even more important, one of the greatest achievements of Japanese architecture. The palace includes a shoin ("drawing room"), tea houses, and a strolling garden.
Ōmiya Station (Kyoto)
is a railway station built underground in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan. Hankyu Kyoto Line serves this station. Keifuku Electric Railroad Arashiyama Main Line terminus Shijo-Omiya Station locates nearby. The station opened on March 31, 1931 as Keihan Kyoto Station of the Shinkeihan Line, then operated by Keihan Electric Railway. After the Shinkeihan Line became the Hankyu Kyoto Line, the station was called Hankyu Kyoto Station.
Hongan-ji
, also archaically romanized as Hongwanji, is the collective name of the largest school of Jōdo Shinshū Buddhism (which further sub-divides into the Nishi and Higashi branches). 'Hongan-ji' may also refer to any one of several actual temple buildings associated with the sect.
Nishikyogoku Athletic Stadium
, or Field and track and ball game field, Kyoto Nishikyogoku Athletic Park Stadium (京都市西京極総合運動公園陸上競技場兼球技場, Kyōtō-shi Nishikyōgoku Sōgō Undō Kōen Rikujō-kyōgijō ken Kyūgijō) is a multi-purpose stadium in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of J. League club Kyoto Sanga F.C. The stadium holds 20,242 people and was built in 1942. It hosted the football match between Romania and Ghana during the 1964 Summer Olympics.
Mibu-dera
Mibu-dera is a Buddhist temple in the Japanese city of Kyoto. The temple was established in 991 by the monk Kaiken. Several times a year the temple hosts performances of kyogen.
Nishi Honganji
Nishi Honganji is one of two temple complexes of Jōdo Shinshū in Kyoto, Japan, the other being Higashi Hongan-ji, or "Eastern Temple of the Original Vow". Jōdo Shinshū is a school of Pure Land Buddhism, and today Nishi Hongan-ji serves as the head temple of the Jōdo Shinshū organization. As with many sites in Kyoto, they have more casual names, and are known affectionately in Kyoto as Onissan and Ohigashisan .
Saiin Station
Hankyu Saiin Station is the 22nd station along the Hankyu Railway Kyoto Line, which departs from Osaka's Umeda Station and terminates at Kyoto's Kawaramachi Station. It is the 4th to last station before reaching Kawaramachi station. Saiin Station is serviced by local, semi express, rapid express, and "commuter" limited express trains, while limited express trains do not service the station.
Heian Palace
The Heian Palace was the original imperial palace of Heian-kyō, the capital of Japan, from 794 to 1227. In Japan, this palace is called Daidairi . The palace, which served as the imperial residence and the administrative centre of Japan for most of the Heian Period (from 794 to 1185), was located at the north-central location of the city in accordance with the Chinese models used for the design of the capital.

Hanazono University
Hanazono University is a private university located in Kyoto, Japan that belongs to the Rinzai sect (specifically the Myōshin-ji temple complex, which it is located next to). The university and the neighborhood itself are named for Emperor Hanazono, whose donated his palace to make Myōshin-ji. It is a major competitor of the Sōtō college in Tokyo known as Komazawa University. Despite the university's sectarian affiliation, the school does also accept Soto students as well.
