Cherryville, British Columbia

Cherryville is an unincorporated community in the foothills of the Monashee Mountains in British Columbia with a population of approximately 614. It is located 14 miles (22 km) east of Lumby, along Highway 6. The small community of Cherryville was an old gold mining camp founded in the 1860s by prospectors from the California Gold Rush who had come north to the British Columbia gold rushes.

Cherry Creek (British Columbia)

Cherry Creek is a creek located in the Okanagan region of British Columbia. The south fork of Cherry Creek is known as Monashee Creek. Cherry Creek was discovered in the 1800s and mined for gold. The Creek was mined in the 1800s by Christian, Schneider, Bissett, and Leblanc. Chinese and European miners worked Cherry Creek. The largest gold nugget found in Cherry Creek weighed 8 to 9 ounces with a value of $130. Cherry Creek flows west into the Shuswap River, east of Vernon.
