The University of New England (UNE) is an Australian public university with approximately 20,000 higher education students. Its original and main campus is located in the city of Armidale in north central New South Wales. The University of New England was the first Australian university established outside a state capital city.

Armidale is a city in the Northern Tablelands, New South Wales, Australia. Armidale Dumaresq Shire had a population of 19,485 people according to the 2006 census. It is the administrative centre for the Northern Tablelands region. It is located approximately half way between Sydney and Brisbane at the junction of the New England Highway, national route 15, and Waterfall Way.

The town is located at the intersection of the New England Highway and Thunderbolts Way 465 kilometres north of Sydney and about 23 kilometres south west of the city of Armidale. Mary White College
Mary White College is a residential college at the University of New England (UNE), Australia, established in 1957. The College was named after Mary White of Saumarez, a member of the Advisory Council of the then New England University College from its inception in 1938 until her death in 1948. Born in 1882, she was also noted as a photographer and woodcarver. The College opened in March 1958, originally an all-girls college, though it has subsequently become co-educational.
Mount Duval (New South Wales)
Mount Duval (elevation 1393 m) is a large forested mountain 15 km north of Armidale, New South Wales. The mountain is one of the largest in the area, and is a dominating feature of the Armidale skyline. The mountain was named after John Duval, a convict and servant of a local pastoralist who worked in the area around the mountain in the 1830s. Most of the mountain is contained within the Duval Nature Reserve.
