Columbus is a city in and the county seat of Muscogee County, Georgia, United States, with which it is consolidated. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 189,885. A. J. McClung Memorial Stadium

A. J. McClung Memorial Stadium is a 15,000-seat sports stadium located in Columbus, Georgia. It was the site of football games between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers from 1916 until 1958. The stadium now hosts the Fort Valley State- Albany State and the Tuskegee - Morehouse rivalry games, as well local youth football and soccer and high school football games. Mead Observatory

City Mills Dam

City Mills Dam is a dam on the Chattahoochee River, between Downtown Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. The dam was built in 1907 to power the City Mills grist mill. Previously, a wooden dam dating to 1828 had existed at the site. The dam impounds a 1.3-mile run of the river reservoir of approximately 110 acres . City Mills Dam is now owned by the City of Columbus, and environmental studies are now underway to breach the dam to create an urban whitewater rafting zone along the river.

Eagle & Phenix Dam

The Eagle and Phenix Dam is a dam on the Chattahoochee River, in downtown Columbus, Georgia. The dam was built in 1868 to power the defunct Eagle and Phenix textile Mill. The dam is located just south of the 13th Street Bridge which connects Columbus to Phenix City, Alabama. The dam produces a 45-acre run of the river reservoir that extends approximately 1-mile upstream. The Eagle and Phenix Dam is now owned by the City of Columbus.

The Georgia state government has officially declared this battle the "last battle of the war between the states. " The Battle of Palmito Ranch in Texas occurred after the Battle of Columbus, but the engagement at Palmito Ranch occurred after Johnston's surrender to Sherman (April 26, 1865) and after the Confederacy dissolved on May 5.

Bibb City, Georgia

Bibb City is a former town in Muscogee County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2000 census, it had a total population of 510. Formerly an incorporated city surrounding—and managed by—the Bibb Manufacturing Co. mill, the city dissolved its charter on December 7, 2000, two years after the mill closed and there was no longer funding to continue city operations. Incorporated in superior court in August 1909, Bibb City is now a neighborhood of the city of Columbus.
