Eureka, the principal city and county seat of Humboldt County, California, is located adjacent to Humboldt Bay 270 miles north of San Francisco and 100 miles south of the Oregon border on U.S. Route 101. At the 2010 census, the population of the city was 27,191 and the population of Greater Eureka was 45,034. Eureka is the largest coastal city north of San Francisco in California and the westernmost city of more than 25,000 residents in the 48 contiguous states.

The Sequoia Park Zoo is a zoo located in Eureka, California, United States and is operated by the City of Eureka. With over 250 animals representing 75 different species on 7-acre, the zoo is a favorite of local residents, especially children, and visitors alike. Rosewood (formerly, Stumpville) is an unincorporated community in Humboldt County, California. It is located 1 mi (1.6 km) south of Eureka, at an elevation of 131 feet (40 m). The Stumpville post office opened in 1930, changed its name to Rosewood in 1941, and closed for good in 1955. The entire area became part of unincorporated Eureka, California
Bayshore Mall
The Bayshore Mall is an indoor shopping mall located in Eureka, California owned and managed by Rouse Properties a division of General Growth Properties, one of the largest mall owners in the United States. It is named for its close proximity to Humboldt Bay. The large shopping facility is the only major mall located on the coast north of the San Francisco Bay Area, securing Eureka as the trading center for the entire far North Coast.
