Expo '70
was a World's Fair held in Suita, Osaka, Japan between March 15 and September 13, 1970. The theme of the Expo was "Progress and Harmony for Mankind. " In Japanese Expo '70 is often referred to as Ōsaka Banpaku (大阪万博). This was the first World's Fair held in Japan. The master plan for the Expo was designed by the Japanese architect Kenzo Tange helped by 12 other Japanese architects who designed elements within it. Bridging the site along a north/south axis was the Symbol Zone.
Osaka Expo '70 Stadium
Osaka Expo '70 Stadium is an athletic stadium in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. It is in the Expo Commemoration Park, the site of Expo '70. The stadium is the home ground of J. League club Gamba Osaka. The stadium's north end is terraced and is used by Gamba's most vocal supporters. The stadium holds around about 20,000 people.
Daidarasaurus
Daidarasaurus was a steel roller coaster, located at Expoland in the city of Suita, Osaka Japan. According to some sources, Daidarasaurus was the second longest roller coaster in the world, behind Steel Dragon 2000. For reasons explained below, other sources did not recognize Daidarasaurus's claim as longest roller coaster in the world from 1999 to 2000. Daidarasaurus has now been demolished as Expoland has now permanently closed. Daidarasaurus was formerly a dual-track racing coaster.
Expoland
Expoland, located in Suita, Osaka, Japan, was opened as the amusement zone at the International Exposition in 1970 and thrived for over 30 years as an amusement park. There were more than 40 rides and attractions, 19 restaurants and shops. On May 5, 2007, a 19-year-old university student from Higashiomi, Shiga was killed and nineteen other guests injured when the Fujin Raijin II derailed at Expoland.
