Shinkaichi Station
Shinkaichi Station is a train station operated by Hanshin Electric Railway Co. , Ltd. , Hankyu Corporation and Kobe Electric Railway Co. , Ltd. in the district of Shinkaichi, Hyogo-ku, Kobe opened on April 7, 1968. Kobe Rapid Transit Railway Co. , Ltd. owns tracks of the rail lines, and Hanshin, Hankyu and Shintetsu operate trains running on the lines. Shinkaichi was originally at the heart of Kobe, but Kobe's central business district has shifted towards Sannomiya.

Although Kobe Station is the namesake of its city and the closest station to Kobe City Hall, the commercial center of Kobe is closer to Sannomiya Station. Fukuhara-kyō
Fukuhara-kyō (福原京, Capital of Fukuhara) was the seat of Japan's Imperial Court, and therefore the capital of the country, for roughly six months in 1180. It was also the center of Taira no Kiyomori's power and the site of his retirement palace. Fukuhara, in or near what is today Hyōgo Ward in the city of Kobe, was made the official residence of Taira no Kiyomori in 1160, following the Heiji Rebellion in which his Taira clan crushed the rival Minamoto clan.
