Washington Street, Cork
Washington Street (Sráid Washington in Irish), is one of the main streets of Cork city, Ireland. Built in 1824 it runs from the old medieval town center onto the western marshes. It was originally named "Great George's Street" in honour of King George. In 1918 the people of Cork renamed it, perhaps ironically as a tribute to George Washington. Mardyke is a cricket ground in Mardyke, Cork, Ireland. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1866, when Cork County played I Zingari.
