Maceió

Maceió is the capital and the largest city of the coastal state Alagoas, Brazil. The name "maceió" is of Indian origin, and designates the naturally spontaneous courses of water which flow out of the soil. Most maceiós flow to the sea, but some get trapped and form lakes ("lagoas", in Portuguese). There are plenty of maceiós and lakes in this part of Brazil; because of this, the city was named Maceió, and the State, Alagoas.

Mundaú Lagoon

Mundaú Lagoon is an estuarine lagoon situated west of Maceió, capital city of Alagoas state, in Brazil. Its total area is 23 km². The lake receives the Mundaú River, and is connected to the Atlantic Ocean and Manguaba Lagoon by a network of canals which cross the plain forming a lot of little islands. The large mangrove and the numerous kind of fish, crabs, shrimps and shellfish are its remarkable characteristics.

The Maceió Metro (Portuguese: Metropolitano de Maceió, commonly called Metrô) is the principal rapid-transit system in the Brazilian city of Maceió. Design of the Metro connects Maceió with two cities in the metropolitan area, Rio Largo and Satuba.
