Banksia cuneata

Banksia cuneata, commonly known as Matchstick Banksia or Quairading Banksia, is an endangered species of flowering plant in the Proteaceae family. Endemic to southwest Western Australia, it belongs to Banksia subg. Isostylis, a sub-genus of three closely related Banksia species with inflorescences or flower clusters that are dome-shaped heads rather than characteristic Banksia flower spikes. A shrub or small tree up to 5 m high, it has prickly foliage and pink and cream flowers.

Badjaling is a small town in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia located close to the Salt River. The townsite was originally declared as Yuruga in 1914 but the name was changed to Badjaling later the same year. The word Badjalling is the Aboriginal name for the nearby soak and springs. The meaning of the word badjal is a term for the feathers being discarded as a bird is plucked.

Badjaling Nature Reserve

Badjaling Nature Reserve is a nature reserve located at Badjaling in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Nominally located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:31|59|21|S|117|29|56|E| |primary |name= }}, it is a 272 hectare reserve of native bushland, surrounded by land long since cleared for agriculture. Vegetation consists of shrubland (54%), woodland (32%), a complex of halophytes occurring in a saline watercourse (11%), and a small amount of heath (3%).
