Broome Regional Prison
Broome Regional Prison is an Australian prison in Broome, Western Australia. It is the only prison in Western Australia's Kimberley region. Prisoners enjoy many liberties at the prison. Before western Australia introduced a ban on travel on the back of utility trucks, prison trucks would often be seen driving around town with a load of prisoners on the back setting out for community service tasks.
Attack on Broome
The town of Broome, Western Australia was attacked by Japanese fighter planes on 3 March 1942, during World War II. At least 88 people were killed. Although Broome was a small pearling port at the time, it was also a refuelling point for aircraft, on the route between the Netherlands East Indies and major Australian cities. As a result, Broome was on a line of flight for Dutch and other refugees, following the Japanese invasion of Java, and had become a significant Allied military base.

The Shire of Broome is one of the four local government areas in the Kimberley region of northern Western Australia, covering an area of 55,796 square kilometres, most of which is sparsely populated. The Shire's estimated population in June 2011 was 16,792, most of whom reside in the town of Broome. Many Aboriginal communities are within the Shire, notably Beagle Bay and Bardi (One Arm Point). The Shire of Broome includes the Rowley Shoals 260 km to the west.

The school was established in 1972 and by 2012 had an enrolment of 560 students between Year 8 and Year 12, approximetely 40% of whom were Aboriginal. The school was initially founded as a district high school in 1972, but in 1990 the senior high school and the primary school separated forming Broome Senior high School.
