South Hedland is a suburb of the Town of Port Hedland, in the Pilbara region in north-western Western Australia. It can be reached by the North West Coastal Highway and Great Northern Highway. At the 2006 census, South Hedland had a population of 7,834.
Wedgefield, Western Australia
Wedgefield is an industrial area in Western Australia's Pilbara region, off Great Northern Highway 2 km north of South Hedland, and was gazetted in 1973. It contains a variety of light and service industry premises, and also supports a small residential population. It was named for surveyor and pioneer Charles Wedge. At the 2006 census, Wedgefield had a population of 538.
Hedland Senior High School
Hedland Senior High School is a comprehensive public high school located in South Hedland, a regional centre 1,632 kilometres north east of Perth, Western Australia. The school was established in 1964 and by 2012 had an enrolment of 603 students between Year 8 and Year 12, 32% of whom were Aboriginal. The school was initially established as a junior high school but became a high school in 1970 and a senior high school in 1971.
