Mountainville Academy
Mountainville Academy is a public charter school in Alpine, Utah, with students from Kindergarten to Ninth grade. It was founded in 2006 by local parents who wanted to provide greater choice in education for their children. The school's beginnings were controversial. In 2006, as Alpine City was reviewing its proposed location, the planning commissioners voted unanimously not to approve the proposed site, and residents presented petitions also opposing the location.

The area south of the tracks is mostly residential.

Utah and Salt Lake Canal
The Utah and Salt Lake Canal is an historic waterway in Salt Lake County, Utah. It was financed wholly by Salt Lake County, and construction lasted from 1872 to 1881. It was built "with only basic tools and contracted manual labor. " The settlement that became present-day Riverton, Utah was limited to the Jordan River bottoms until this canal was constructed.
South Jordan Canal
The South Jordan Canal is an historic waterway in Salt Lake County, Utah. It was completed in 1876. The canal took water out of the Jordan River in Bluffdale and for the first time brought it above the river bluffs in what is now South Jordan. As a result of the new canal, most of the families settled among the bluffs moved up away from the river onto the "flats" above the river which they could now irrigate.
