Avon, Colorado
Avon is a Home Rule Municipality that is a town in Eagle County, Colorado, United States. The population was 6,447 at the 2010 census. Avon is the gateway to the Beaver Creek Resort which lies about two miles (3 km) south of the town. It was the previous site of Vail Resorts before the company moved its physical headquarters to Broomfield, CO. in 2006. The town is also the home of Liberty Skis, an independent ski manufacturing company. The town first consisted of a rail station opened in 1889.

A regular stop on the men's World Cup tour, the races in Beaver Creek are usually held in early December. The course hosted the World Championships in February 1999, and is scheduled again for 2015. With lower starting gates, it is also used for Super-G and Giant Slalom races.
