Fanuatapu is an uninhabited island which consists of a volcanic tuff ring, situated off the eastern tip of Upolu, Samoa. It is the smallest and easternmost of the four Aleipata Islands, with an area of 15 hectares, and has an automated lighthouse.
ATUA is the most ancient district of Samoa, now consisting of most of the eastern section of Upolu but also traditionally incorporates Tutuila and once all of Upolu and Savaii. The head of the district is the sub district of Aleipata (Ao)Eastern part, The back at Lufulufi Anoamaa northern part, The Tail or I'u at Falealili at the south western end of Atua. The district has a population (2001 Census) of 21,168. The paramount lineage is the Tui Atua line.
Va'a-o-Fonoti is a district on the north east coast of Upolu Island in Samoa, with a population (2001 Census) of 1,666, making it the least populated district in the country. The district is 38 km² and consists of a main area around Fagaloa Bay with nine villages and a small coastal exclave about 10 km further northwest, with the village of Faleāpuna (pop. 582). The district includes areas with significant conservation and cultural values.
Nu'utele is an island which consists of a volcanic tuff ring situated 1.3 km off the eastern end of Upolu island, Samoa. It is the largest of the four Aleipata Islands, at 1.08 km². Together with Nu'ulua, a smaller isle in the Aleipata group, the two areas are significant conservation areas for native species of bird life. Nu'utele features steep terrain with vertical marine cliffs up to 180 m high. Nu'utele serves as a famous background scene for the popular Lalomanu beach area.
Vavau is a small village on south east end of Upolu island in Samoa. The village is part of Lotofaga Electoral Constituency (Faipule District) which is within the larger political district of Atua. The population is 356 (2006 Census). Before the 2009 tsunami Vavau had a beach resort which was a popular getaway for locals on weekends and is also visited by overseas tourists. Now Vavau Beach is deserted but still accessible, many regard it as the most beautiful beach on Upolu island.
A'ufaga is a small village on the southeast end of Upolu island in Samoa. The village is part of the electoral constituency (Faipule District) Lepa which is included in the larger political district of Atua. The population is 468 (2006 Census).
Lepa is a small village at the southeastern end of Upolu island in Samoa. The village has a population of 170 (2006 Census). It is also the name of an electoral faipule district, Lepa Electoral Constituency, which consists of 6 villages, including Lepa village, with a total population of 1,429. (2006 Census). The village and Lepa Electoral Constituency are part of the larger political district of Atua.
Falefa is a village on the north east coast of Upolu island in Samoa. The village is part of the electoral constituency (Faipule District) Anoamaa East which is within the larger political district of Atua.
Siuniu is a small village on the Samoan island of Upolu. It is located inland from the southeast coast of the island.
The Aleipata Islands is a group of four uninhabited islands off the eastern end (the historical Aleipata region) of Upolu Island, Samoa, with an aggregate area of 1.68 km²): Nu'utele (1.08 km²) Nu'ulua (0.25 km²) Namua (0.20 km²) Fanuatapu (0.15 km²) Namua and Fanuatapu are at the outer edge of the fringing reef of Upolu, with distances of 0.7 km and 2.5 km to the Upolu mainland, respectively.
Poutasi is a village on the south east coast of Upolu island in Samoa. The population is 379 (2006 Census). The village is part of Falealili Electoral Constituency (Faipule District) in the larger political district of Atua. Poutasi was extensively damaged in a tsunami generated by the Samoa earthquake 2009.
Fagaloa Bay is located on the north eastern coast of Upolu island in Samoa. The area is a significant region of conservation and culture. The bay is situated within the political district of Va'a-o-Fonoti. The geographic area consists of a mountain formation rising out of the sea. At the base of the bay lies the village Ta'elefaga at the mouth of the Malata river. To the east above the villages of Lona and Uafato are several waterfalls by mountain forests.
Namu'a is a small uninhabited island off the east coast of Upolu island in Samoa. The island is a 10 minute boat ride from Upolu and has beach fale accommodation for visitors. There are lookouts and it takes about an hour to walk around the island. Namua is one of four small islands in the Aleipata Islands.
