Novosil
Novosil is a town and the administrative center of Novosilsky District of Oryol Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Zusha River 70 kilometers east of Oryol. Population: 3,658; 4,017; 4,198. Novosil was first mentioned in 1155 as a fortress called Itil and was the seat of a branch of the Rurikid family in the Middle Ages. Novosil's town status was officially corroborated in 1777.
