University of Madeira

The University of Madeira is a Portuguese public university, created in 1988 in Funchal. It houses the following departments and autonomous sections. The university offers first and second cycle academic degrees in a wide range of fields, in accordance with the Bologna process. It is now under the CMU/Portugal agreement with Carnegie Mellon University, having master program of Human Computer Interaction and Entertainment Technology.

Roman Catholic Diocese of Funchal

The Diocese of Funchal was created originally on January 12, 1514, by bull Pro excellenti præeminentia of Pope Leo X, following the elevation of Funchal from a village to the status of town (cidade), by King Manuel I of Portugal (royal mandate of August 21, 1508). The new diocese was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lisbon.

Estádio da Madeira

Estádio da Madeira, formerly named Estadio Eng. Rui Alves and informally known as Estádio da Choupana is a football stadium in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. It is currently used mostly for the home matches of C.D. Nacional, one of two Liga Sagres teams located in Funchal (The other being fierce rivals C.S. Marítimo). The stadium is currently able to hold 5,132 people and was built as a one-stand 2,500 seat stadium in 2000, when Nacional moved in.

Campo do Adelino Rodrigues

Campo de Futebol Adelino Rodrigues, also known as Campo do Liceu, is a multi-use stadium, mainly used for football, which is located in the city centre of Funchal, on the Portuguese island of Madeira. The stadium, which has a capacity for approximately 3,000 people in stands based around three sides of the pitch, is mainly used by local football teams such as C.S. Madeira and by the University of Madeira teams.

Cathedral of Funchal

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption (Portuguese: Sé Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Assunção) in Sé, Funchal, Madeira, Portugal is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Funchal, which encompasses all of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The late fifteenth-century cathedral is one of the few structures that survives virtually intact since the early period of colonization of Madeira. Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute

The Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute (Madeira-ITI) was founded in December 2009 as collaboration between the University of Madeira, Madeira Tecnopolo, and Carnegie Mellon University. Attached to the University of Madeira, the institute conducts research in computer science, more specifically human-computer interaction.
