Străşeni
Străşeni is a city of about 20,000 inhabitants in central Moldova, the administrative center of Străşeni District. The city administers one village, Făgureni. There are several legends about its name. One tells that the name of the region is derived from straşnic, a Romanian adjective that can mean "terrible", "frightening", and the story goes that in former times this region was covered by a fearsome forest. Nowadays, Străşeni is famous for its wine.

Strășeni is an administrative district in the central part of Moldova. Its administrative center and leading city is Strășeni. As of 1 January 2011, its population was 91,100. The other principal town is Bucovăț, 26 km to the north of the Moldovan capital. Otherwise the district is divided between rural communities.

Străşeni TV Mast is one of the tallest architectural structures in Europe and the tallest of Moldova. Străşeni TV Mast, which was built in 1984-85, is a 355 metres tall guyed mast (lattice steel structure with square cross section situated near Străşeni in Moldova used for FM- and TV-transmission.
