Because of the naming rights by Tohoku Electric Power Co. , Inc. , the name of the stadium is Tohoku Denryoku Big Swan Stadium (東北電力ビッグスワンスタジアム, Tohoku Denryoku Biggu Suwan Sutajiamu) from March 11, 2007 until 2009. It forms the central station for the railway infrastructure along the Sea of Japan coast, and is also the terminus of the Jōetsu Shinkansen high-speed line from Tokyo.
