Matsumoto Castle
, also known as the "Crow Castle" because of its black exterior, is one of Japan's premier historic castles. It is located in the city of Matsumoto, in Nagano Prefecture and is within easy reach of Tokyo by road or rail. The keep (tenshukaku), which was completed in the late 16th century, maintains its original wooden interiors and external stonework. It is listed as a National Treasure of Japan.

Jōkyō Gimin Memorial Museum
The Jōkyō Gimin Memorial Museum (Jōkyō Gimin Kinen-kan) is a museum dedicated to the Jōkyō Uprising that occurred in Azumidaira, Japan in 1686 (the third year of the Jōkyō era during the Edo period). The uprising, also called the Kasuke Uprising (the leader of the peasant uprising was Tada Kasuke), is perceived to be a struggle for the right to life. Thus the founders of the memorial museum erected two plaques at the front entrance of the building.
Japan Ukiyo-e Museum
is a privately owned Japanese art museum in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. It specializes in Japanese woodblock prints. The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum was established in 1982 by the local business family Sakai. It is based on collections of ukiyo-e owned by the family. The items were mainly collected by Yoshitaka Sakai (1810–69), paper wholesaler and art patron, and his son and grandson.
Kaichi School Museum
The Kaichi School in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture was one of the first schools in Japan. It opened in a temporary building in May 1873, the year after the first major education reforms were introduced by the new Ministry of Education. The school moved to new premises in April 1876. This western-style building, fused with Japanese elements, was designated an Important Cultural Property in 1961.
