Goshiki-numa
, is a cluster of five volcanic lakes situated at the foot of Mount Bandai in the center of the lake district of Bandai-kōgen, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Goshiki-numa formed when Mount Bandai erupted on July 15, 1888, destroying dozens of villages and killing approximately 500 people while creating hundreds of lakes and tarns. The eruption completely rearranged the landscape, creating the Bandai-kōgen plateau and damming local rivers.
Akimoto Lake
Akimoto Lake (秋元湖) is a lake that is technically classified as a reservoir. It straddles the border of the village of Kitashiobara and the town of Inawashiro, both in the Yama district of Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Along with Hibara Lake and Onogawa Lake, it forms what is known as the "Inner Bandai Plateau Tri-Lake Formation".
Morohashi Museum of Modern Art
Morohashi Museum of Modern Art opened in Kitashiobara, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, in 1999. It is situated within Bandai-Asahi National Park, near Goshiki-numa and with views of Mount Bandai. The permanent collection includes over three hundred pieces by Salvador Dalí, as well as works by Sisley, Cézanne, Renoir, Matisse and Picasso.
