Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny
Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny, nicknamed "le Félicia", is a multi-purpose stadium, which can host football, rugby and athletics, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It is the national stadium of the Côte d'Ivoire national football team. It is named after the first president of the country, Félix Houphouët-Boigny, and is located in the commune of Le Plateau. The stadium has a capacity of 35,000 which can be expanded to 40,000. It also hosts matches of the ASEC Abidjan.

Treichville is a commune of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The commune is known as one of the most lively in the city, specially around the Crossroad France-Amérique. The streets have no name but numbers from 1 to 25. The commune is served by a railway station belonging to the RAN. The railway operates to Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso, and takes around 30 hours. Its name comes from Marcel Treich-Laplène (1860-1890), who was French resident in Côte d'Ivoire.

2013 Houphouët-Boigny stampede
The 2013 Houphouët-Boigny stampede occurred as crowds departed a New Year's Eve fireworks display in the early hours of 1 January 2013 near the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Over 200 people were injured and 61 killed, mostly women and children. This was the second time in four years that a fatal stampede occurred at the stadium. President Alassane Ouattara declared three days of mourning and promised an investigation.
