The Magnetic Hill
The Magnetic Hill is an example of a gravity hill, a type of optical illusion created by rising and descending terrain. It is located at the North-Western edge of the city of Moncton in the Canadian province of New Brunswick. The general area is at the base of a ridge named “Lutes Mountain”, which rises several hundred feet above the surrounding Petitcodiac River valley.

It is part of the Magnetic Hill tourist site. The park is the largest man made tourist attraction in Atlantic Canada. It requires more than 800,000 imperial gallons of water to operate which is heated by propane heaters with a capacity of almost 7 million BTUs.

Originally built in 1984 for Pope John Paul II to hold a papal mass during his tour of Canada, the site was redesigned in the 1990s as a concert venue. On September 3, 2005 The Rolling Stones performed at the venue, with 89,260 fans attending, making it the largest music event ever in Atlantic Canada.
