Brisbane
Brisbane is the capital and most populous city in the Australian state of Queensland and the third most populous city in Australia. Brisbane's metropolitan area has a population of 2.15 million, and the South East Queensland urban conurbation, centered on Brisbane, encompasses a population of more than 3 million.
Queen Street Mall
The Queen Street Mall is a pedestrian mall located on Queen Street in the centre of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The mall extends approximately 500 metres from George Street to Edward Street, and has more than 700 retailers over 40,000 square metres of retail space, which includes six major shopping centres. It receives over 26 million visitors each year. It was intended to bring more people into the central business district.
Queens Gardens, Brisbane
Queens Gardens is located on a city block between George Street, Elizabeth Street and William Street in the Brisbane central business district. On the opposite side of William Street is the old State Library of Queensland and on the opposite side of Elizabeth Street is the former Treasury Building. Queens Gardens was established in its present form in 1963, after the buildings which had occupied the area had been demolished. Queens Gardens was named in honour of Queen Victoria.
MacArthur Central
MacArthur Central is an English Renaissance styled building located on the north-east corner of Queen Street and Edward Street in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is notable for its wartime association with General Douglas MacArthur, who used the building as the Allied forces' South West Pacific Area Headquarters from July 1942 to November 1944.
Queen Street bus station
Queen Street Bus Station is the Brisbane CBD's primary bus terminus. It is underneath The Myer Centre and Queen Street Mall. It is in Zone 1 of the TransLink integrated public transport system. Where other Australian cities in earlier decades invested in underground rail, Brisbane, Queensland, in an attempt to clear up city streets, invested in tunnels for its bus system. Passengers wait for their buses behind automatic doors in an air-conditioned environment with advanced information displays.
The Myer Centre, Brisbane
The Myer Centre is located between the Queen Street Mall and Elizabeth Street in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is a nine-floor shopping complex which includes Queensland's largest Myer department store, and is open to the public seven days a week. The Myer Centre has the added benefit of being the hub for the Brisbane CBD. Most buses originate and end near or under the Myer Centre.
Treasury Casino
The Treasury Casino, also known as The Treasury is a casino in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It also houses a hotel, five restaurants, seven bars, and a nightclub. The casino is operated by ECHO Entertainment Group. One per cent of the casino's gross gaming revenue is deposited in the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund. This fund supports non-profit community based groups and is administered by the Government of Queensland.

Wintergarden is a shopping centre located in the city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was opened by the Premier of Queensland the Honourable Joh Bjelke-Petersen in 1982. It contains over 60 specialty stores over three levels. In November 2009, it was announced that a $100 million refurbishment of Wintergarden will take place in two 12-month stages. The Wintergarden's facade was enhanced on all three street frontages.

The Pancake Manor
The Pancake Manor, formerly St. Luke's Anglican Church, is a privately owned restaurant found in Charlotte Street in the Brisbane CBD of Queensland, Australia. A heritage listed building, over a hundred years old, houses the restaurant has been famous for its pancakes for almost 30 years, and its 24-hour service. This restaurant is a popular eating spot for Brisbanites after a night out.
Regent Theatre (Brisbane)
The Regent Theatre in Brisbane is a multi-cinema picture palace, in what was once one of the original Hoyts' Picture Palaces from the 1920s. It is located at 167 Queen Street on the popular Queen Street Mall.
111 George Street
111 George Street is a building on George Street in the Brisbane central business district, Australia which was completed in 1993. It is currently the 13th (2012) tallest building in the city and fully occupied by the Queensland State Government. With its repetitive grill pattern, it is sometimes colloquially referred to as the 'cheese grater'. The site covers 1,299 m2. A sister project known as 33 Charlotte Street was later built on the adjoining site, and has a very similar facade.

Edward Street is a busy thoroughfare in the Brisbane central business district, Queensland, Australia. It is a one way street located between Albert Street and Creek Street, and runs from Upper Edward Street to Alice Street. A number of prominent Brisbane landmarks are situated on Edward Street. The Central Station, the Queen Street Mall, the Metro Arts Theatre and the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens can be accessed from Edward Street.
Albert Street, Brisbane
Albert Street is a road in Brisbane, Australia. It was named after Prince Albert, the Prince Consort of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, and it runs between George Street and Edward Street, and from Alice Street to Wickham Terrace. The section of Albert Street between Queen Street Mall and Adelaide Street has now been converted into part of the Mall, in connection with the busway tunnel from the Queen Street bus station to the King George Square busway station.
T & G Building, Brisbane
The T & G Building building stands on the corner of Queen Street and Albert Street in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The original building stood from 1923 to 1966. It was taken over by Lieutenant Robert Melloy of the Hirings Section, No. 1 Lines of Communication (No. 1 L of C), Australian Army, and was occupied from 20 February 1943 to 31 December 1944.
Elizabeth Street, Brisbane
Elizabeth Street in Brisbane, Australia is a major street in the centre of the city. The street was established at the beginning of settlement in Brisbane as a penal colony. Most of the street is fronted by low-level retail outlets, with an increase in mixed use skyscrapers being recently constructed. Major shopping arcades on Elizabeth Street include The Myer Centre, Marcarthur Central and the Elizabeth Arcade. The Brisbane Hilton hotel has it main entrance on Elizabeth Street.
Alice Street, Brisbane
Alice Street is a central road in Brisbane, Australia. It is the most southern major road in the city's central business district, running parallel to the other female named streets in the city. In a pocket of land between a curve of the Brisbane River and Alice Street is the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens and the Parliament House. Access to the Gardens Point QUT campus and the Riverside Expressway is provided at the western end of the street.
Shingle Inn
The Shingle Inn is a Brisbane restaurant and bakery franchise which commenced with the flagship store in Edward Street, Brisbane in 1936 as a Tudor inn style restaurant. It is one of the oldest continuing restaurants in the city of Brisbane. It has been owned since 1975 by the Bellchambers Family.

Margaret Street is a major road in the central business district of Brisbane. The street is one of a number that were named after female members of the royal family shortly after the penal colony was settled. Alice Street lies to the south, while Mary Street runs parallel to the north. Traffic flow along the street is restricted to one direction, towards the north east. From the south an exit ramp from the Riverside Expressway becomes Margaret Street at the William Street intersection.

Metro Arts Theatre
The Metro Arts Theatre is a performing arts venue located in Edward Street in Brisbane, Australia. The building contains two performance venues, the Sue Benner Theatre and the Studio. The theatre emerged as a community arts centre in the mid 1970s, and was purchased by Metro Arts in 2001. The Metro Arts building currently supports more than 30 creative businesses, individual artist studios and retail outlets.
123 Albert Street
123 Albert Street, also known as Rio Tinto Tower, is a commercial office development in Brisbane, Australia. The modern style office building is located in the Brisbane central business district at 123 Albert Street. The building was completed in July 2011 and opened in October 2011. The Premium grade office tower was designed by Hassell and is owned by Dexus Property Group.
2013 Brisbane mall siege
On Friday, 8 March 2013, a siege occurred at Queen Street Mall in the capital city, Brisbane, of Queensland, Australia. A 34-year-old man by the name of Lee Matthew Hillier is being held in custody by Queensland Police. Nobody, besides Hillier who was shot in the shoulder and wrist by police via non-lethal rounds, was killed or injured.
