AstroWorld was a seasonally operated theme park located on approximately 57 acres of land (later expanded to over 75 acres) between Kirby Drive and Fannin Avenue, directly south of Loop 610 in Houston, Texas, USA. Opening on June 1, 1968, AstroWorld was originally developed and constructed as part of the Astrodomain, the brainchild of local philanthropist and former Houston mayor Judge Roy Hofheinz, who intended it to complement The Astrodome.

Reliant Arena

The Reliant Arena, formerly the "Astroarena", is a 350,000 square feet (33,000 m²) sports center in Reliant Park, in Houston, Texas, USA. It is one of the state's major arenas and convention centers. Reliant became the home of the Women's National Basketball Association's Houston Comets for what proved to be their final season. The team folded after failing to secure new ownership.

Texas Cyclone

The Texas Cyclone was a wooden roller coaster at the defunct Six Flags Astroworld in Houston, Texas, and was known for its airtime, speed, and feeling of being out of control. It was 93 feet tall, had 3,180 feet of track, and the ride lasted for two minutes and fifteen seconds. It was opened in 1976, after a failed attempt by Astroworld to buy the original Coney Island Cyclone.

XLR-8

XLR-8 was a steel suspended roller coaster. It was designed by Arrow Dynamics (at the time called 'Arrow-Huss') and located at Six Flags Astroworld from when it was constructed in 1984 until AstroWorld closed in 2005. XLR-8 was the successor to the troubled Bat at Kings Island, which had closed due to several problems.

Fannin South (METRORail station)

Fannin South is an island platformed METRORail light rail station in Houston, Texas, United States. The station was opened on January 1, 2004, and is operated by the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO). Serving as the southern terminus of the Red Line, this is located at the intersection of Fannin Street and West Bellfort Avenue, and is co-located with the Fannin South Park & Ride facility, which is located close to Interstate 610.

The last race was held on April 22, 2007 (with the IRL merger canceling the 2008 event just two months prior to the event).
