Lowry Air Force Base

Lowry Air Force Base (1938–1994) is a former United States Air Force base located in the cities of Aurora and Denver, Colorado. Its primary mission throughout its existence was Air Force technical training and was heavily involved with the training of United States Army Air Forces bomber crews during World War II. It was also the home of the United States Air Force Academy from 1954 to 1958, until the Academy's permanent site in Colorado Springs was completed.

Nine Mile (RTD)

Nine Mile is an island platformed RTD light rail station in Aurora, Colorado, United States. The station was opened on November 17, 2006, and is operated by the Regional Transportation District. 2012 Aurora shooting

On Friday, July 20, 2012, a mass shooting occurred inside of a Century movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, during a midnight screening of the film The Dark Knight Rises. A gunman, dressed in tactical clothing, set off tear gas grenades and shot into the audience with multiple firearms, killing 12 people and injuring 58 others. The sole suspect is James Eagan Holmes, who was arrested outside the cinema minutes later.

Cherry Creek Dam

Cherry Creek Dam (National ID # CO01280) is a dam in Arapahoe County, Colorado, in suburban Denver, southeast of the city center. The earthen dam was constructed between 1948 and 1950 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers with a height of 141 feet and a length of 14,300 feet at its crest. It impounds Cherry Creek, a tributary of the South Platte River, for flood control. The dam and reservoir are owned and operated by the Corps of Engineers.
