Butte, Alaska
Butte is a census-designated place (CDP) in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, United States. It is part of the Anchorage, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2010 census the population was 3,246. It is located between the Matanuska River and the Knik River approximately five miles southeast of Palmer. It is accessible via the Old Glenn Highway.
Alaska Raceway Park
Alaska Raceway Park is a 1/4 mile IHRA dragstrip conducting summertime races from April to mid-September near "the Butte" a few miles south of Palmer, Alaska. Located near the Knik River and Knik Glacier at Mile 10.4 of the Old Glenn Highway, it is about 40 minutes away from Anchorage, Alaska. Nearby Pioneer Peak looms over the finish line, providing one of the most scenic racing venues in the region.
