Wetumpka crater

The Wetumpka impact crater is the only confirmed impact crater in Alabama, United States. It is located east of downtown Wetumpka in Elmore County. The crater is 4.7 miles in diameter and its age is estimated to be about 83 million years old, based on fossils found in the youngest disturbed deposits, which belong to the Mooreville Chalk Formation.

William Bartram Arboretum

The William Bartram Arboretum is an arboretum near Wetumpka, Alabama, in the United States. It is located off U.S. Route 231, at 2521 Fort Toulouse Road. The arboretum is named in honor of the 18th century naturalist William Bartram, who visited the area in 1776 while studying local flora and fauna. Operated by the Alabama Historical Commission, the 30-acre William Bartram Arboretum is a part of the 165-acre Fort Toulouse-Jackson Park at the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers.

Gunter Annex

Gunter Annex is a United States Air Force installation located in the North-northeast suburbs of Montgomery, Alabama. The base is named after former Montgomery mayor William Adams Gunter. Until 1992 it was known as Gunter Air Force Base or Gunter Air Force Station. It has been a military training base since its opening in 1940. Gunter Annex now falls under the command of nearby Maxwell Air Force Base.

Wetumpka State Penitentiary

The Wetumpka State Penitentiary (WSP), originally known as the Alabama State Penitentiary, was the first state prison established in Alabama. Built on the east bank of the Coosa River in Wetumpka, Alabama, it was nicknamed the "Walls of Alabama" or "Walls. " For much of its existence the prison housed both men and women in separate quarters. The historic site was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 8, 1973.

Walter Bouldin Dam

Walter Bouldin Dam is a dam in Elmore County, Alabama. The closest town is Wetumpka. The earthen dam was constructed in 1967 by the Alabama Power Company, with a height of 170 feet, and a length of 11,178 feet at its crest. It impounds the Coosa River for 225 MW of hydroelectric power, the last and largest of Alabama Power's string of seven hydropower facilities on that river. It's also the largest of all Alabama Power hydropower facilities.
