Cuper's Cove

Cuper's Cove, on the southwest shore of Conception Bay on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula was an early English settlement in the New World, and the second one after the Jamestown Settlement to endure for longer than a year. It was established in 1610 by John Guy on behalf of Bristol's Society of Merchant Venturers, who had been given a charter by King James I of England to establish a colony on the island of Newfoundland.

Hawthorne Cottage

Hawthorne Cottage is a National Historic Site of Canada located in Brigus, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is operated by the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador. It was the residence of Captain Bob Bartlett, a famed Arctic explorer. Bartlett is credited by marine historian Thomas Appleton with "the finest feat of leadership in Canadian Marine history" in his efforts to save the crew of the ill–fated Karluk under Arctic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson.

Cupids

Cupids is a town of 790 on Conception Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It has also been known as Coopers, Copers Cove, Cupers Cove, and Cuperts. It is the oldest continuously settled official British colony in Canada and the second oldest in North America (the first is Jamestown, Virginia). Cupids is believed to be the site of the first child born of European parents on the continent. The town was established by Englishman John Guy in 1610.

The Port de Grave peninsula contains the communities of Bareneed, Black Duck Pond, Otterbury, Ship Cove, Blow Me Down, Hibb's Cove, Pick Eyes, and Hussey's Cove with a population of approximately 975 (2006). This community is located in the provincial electoral district of Port de Grave. An unincorporated area, for statistics purposes it is called Division No. 1, Subdivision K.

Bareneed, Newfoundland and Labrador

Bareneed is a Canadian settlement in Division No. 1, Newfoundland and Labrador. It is located east of Bay Roberts, on a peninsula on the west side of Conception Bay. Established as by four families in the Brigus area of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1864, it became a village in 1968. (*There is an 1817 Census of "Bare Need" with names of Boon and Bartlet and others, and a population of 96). The Way Office was established in 1874 and the first Waymaster was Jabez W. Butler.
