Jacarepaguá

Jacarepaguá, with a land area of 29.27 square miles is the 4th largest neighborhood in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2000, it had a population of 100,822, making it the 9th most populous neighborhood in the city. The name comes from the indigenous name of the location, "shallow pond of alligators", yakaré(alligator) + upá (pond) + guá (shallow), by the time of the Portuguese invasion.

Monte Makaya

Monte Makaya is a steel, looping roller coaster manufactured by Intamin and located at Terra Encantada in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. When it opened in 1998, it tied Dragon Khan's then-record with eight inversions; although it and Dragon Khan were made by different manufacturers and have very different layouts. Monte Makaya is located in the Terra Africana section at the back of Terra Encantada, at the park's far northwest corner.

Maria Lenk Aquatic Center

The Maria Lenk Aquatic Park (Portuguese: Parque Aquático Maria Lenk) is an aquatics centre that is part of the City of Sports Complex, in Barra da Tijuca, part of the investments of the city Rio de Janeiro to host the swimming, synchronized swimming and diving competitions of the 2007 Pan American Games. The name of the water park is a tribute to the Brazilian swimmer Maria Lenk, who died less than three months before its inauguration.

Cidade de Deus (Rio de Janeiro)

The neighbourhood of Cidade de Deus (City of God) is part of the borough of Jacarepaguá, in the Western Zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is also known as CDD among their inhabitants. The neighbourhood was founded in 1960, planned and executed by the government of Guanabara State as part of the policy to systematically remove favelas from the center of Rio de Janeiro and settling their inhabitants in the suburbs. It is used as backdrop in the 2002 film City of God.
