Horn Island, Queensland

Horn Island (Narupai) is an island in the Torres Strait, in Queensland's north between the Australian mainland and Papua New Guinea. At the 2006 census, Horn Island had a population of 585. Church influence: London Missionary Society up until 1915 when the Anglican Church assumed responsibility. Horn Island is known as Nœrupai (colloquially Nurupai) to the Kaurareg ("islander") people and was given its English name by Matthew Flinders in 1802.

Albany Island or Pabaju is an island at the very tip of Cape York Peninsula in the Adolphus Channel and part of the Manar Group of islands Queensland, Australia, in the Cape York Peninsula about 20 km East of Bamaga, and 6 km southeast of the tip of Cape York. The island is a part of the Torres Strait Islands; it is about 6 km long and is volcanic with fringing coral reefs. It is said to have been certainly part of the territory of the Djagaraga or Gudang people.

Endeavour Strait

The Endeavour Strait is a strait running between the Australian mainland and Prince of Wales Island, in the extreme south of the Torres Strait. It was named in 1770 by explorer James Cook, after his own vessel, The Endeavour, and he used the strait as passage out to the Indian Ocean on his voyage. The Endeavour Strait is approximately thirty statute miles (50 km) in length from its northernmost tip to its southern extremities, and varies from two to six miles (3 to 10 km) in breadth.

Adolphus Channel

Adolphus Channel or Albany passage is a channel at the north eastern end of Cape York Peninsula, or south eastern portion of the Torres Strait in Queensland. It runs between the Albany Island to the south, and Mount Adolphus Island to the north. Ida Island is north and adjacent to Muddy Bay, while the remaining islets are adjacent to Pioneer Bay on the north east coast of Albany Island.
