The Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Site consists of approximately 8,940 km² of Australian wet tropical forests growing along the north-east Queensland portion of the Great Dividing Range. The Wet Tropics of Queensland meets all four of the criteria for natural heritage for selection as a World Heritage Site. World Heritage status was declared in 1988. The Wet Tropics of Queensland were added to the Australian National Heritage List in May 2007.

Lake Barrine

Lake Barrine is a freshwater lake situated on the eastern parts of Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland, Australia, close to Lake Eacham. The lake and surrounds are protected within the Crater Lakes National Park and are accessible via the Gillies Highway. Lake Barrine was formed over 17,000 years ago when a large volcano erupted, leaving a crater that over time filled up with water to create a lake. The crater or maar was formed as a result of a series of volcanic explosions.

Josephine Falls

Josephine Falls are located at the foot of the southern face of Mount Bartle Frere in the Wooroonooran National Park, in Queensland, Australia. The falls are a popular recreation site among locals as the water flows over a large rock to form a natural waterslide. Josephine Falls are located on Josephine Creek, a tributary of the Russell River. Accessed by sealed road just off the Bruce Highway between Babinda and Innisfail.

Kearneys Falls are found on a tributary of the Mulgrave River, in the Wooroonooran National Park, in Goldsborough Valley of Far North Queensland, Australia. Access to the falls is via a 1.6 km walking track. Camping facilities and the walking track to Kearneys Falls were closed in 2006 due to severe damage by both Tropical Cyclone Larry and Tropical Cyclone Monica.

The Mulgrave River is a river in Far North Queensland, Australia. It flows in a northerly direction through Gordonvale and the southern outskirts of Cairns, after rising in the Bellenden Ker Range. Some of the 1315 km² catchment area is protected with the Wooroonooran National Park and the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The Mulgrave River empties into the Coral Sea 30 km south at the southern extremity of the Yarrabah Hills range where the Mulgrave meets the Russell River.
