Davies Creek National Park
Davies Creek National Park is in Far North Queensland, Australia, 1392 km northwest of Brisbane, 20 km south west of Cairns. The park is located on the Atherton Tableland, it is very picturesque with its granite outcrops, the Davies Creek Falls and an open forest. Davies Creek raises in the Lamb Range and eventually flows into the Barron River. The park is important as a preserve of the Northern Bettong, an endangered species.
Mareeba
Mareeba is a town on the Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland, Australia. The town is 417 metres above sea level on the confluence of the Barron River, Granite Creek and Emerald Creek. The town's name is derived from an Aboriginal word meaning meeting of the waters. At the 2006 census, Mareeba had a population of 6,806.
Mona Mona Mission
The Mona Mona Aboriginal Mission is a former Seventh-day Adventist mission established near Kuranda, Queensland, Australia. In 1913, large numbers, particularly of Djabugay people, were rounded up and forcibly taken to the mission. Until 1940 it was almost self-sufficient, growing its own food, and cutting and milling timber. After this period, soil fertility deteriorated and with the increasing costs, the mission soon became unviable. Also the city of Cairns was growing and needed more water.

The Djabugay people (aka Djabuganydji or Tjapukai) are a group of Australian Aborigines who are the original inhabitants of mountains, gorges, lands and waters of a richly forested part of the Great Dividing Range including the Barron Gorge and surrounding areas within the Wet Tropics of Queensland.

The Tablelands Advertiser is the weekly newspaper published for residents of the Atherton Tableland and Mareeba area. The Tablelands Advertiser has a home delivery system that covers around four times the area of any other publication in the region. This means that over half of the 18,729 copies are delivered to homes, cattle stations and farms throughout the Far Northern rural region.

The Tablelands Region is a local government area in Far North Queensland, Australia inland from the city of Cairns. Established in 2008, it was preceded by four previous local government areas which dated back more than a century. It has an estimated operating budget of A$62.2 million.

Shambala Animal Kingdom is a 53 hectares zoological park outside Kuranda, Queensland, Australia. The park is privately owned. It was formerly known as "Cairns Wildlife Safari Reserve", "Mareeba Wild Animal Park" and "Out of Africa Reserve". The park maintains a collection of both exotic and native animals.

Southedge Dam has remained unused since its construction in 1986. It was constructed and owned by Southedge Daintree Pastoral Company.
