Daintree, Queensland
Daintree is a settlement in North Queensland located 111 kilometres north of Cairns and 56 kilometres from Port Douglas, Queensland. The McDowell Ranges are near the town while the Daintree River flows nearby. It takes its name from Richard Daintree, a pioneering geologist of British origin in North Queensland in the 1860s. At the 2006 census, Daintree and the surrounding area had a population of 78.
Port Douglas, Queensland
Port Douglas is a town in Far North Queensland, Australia, approximately 70 km north of Cairns. Its permanent population was 4,772 at the time of the 2011 census. The town's population can often double, however, with the influx of tourists during the peak tourism season May–September. The town is named in honour of former Premier of Queensland, John Douglas. Port Douglas developed quickly based on the mining industry.
Snapper Island (Queensland)
Snapper Island is an island at the mouth of the Daintree River in Queensland, Australia, some 20 km north of Port Douglas. It is administered by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service as the Snapper Island National Park and Marine Park. Snapper Island is a popular tourism and sea kayaking destination. It is around 66 hectares or 0.66 square km in size.
Daintree River
The Daintree River runs through the Daintree Rainforest in the Cape Tribulation region of Queensland in northern Australia. It is located about 100 kilometres northwest of Cairns in far north tropical Queensland and drains an area of 2,125 square kilometres. The river, along with the Daintree Rainforest encircled by it was given Wet Tropics Word Heritage Listing in 1988. The area is now primarily a tourist attraction.
Woody Island (Queensland)
Woody Island is about 25 km northeast of Port Douglas in Trinity Bay, North Queensland. With the neighbouring Low Island, it comprises the Low Isles. Woody Island is an uninhabited coral/mangrove island, but the main attraction is Low Isle, a typical tropical island with vegetation and a sandy, coral cay surrounded by 55 acres of reef. It is around 620 hectares or 6.2 square km in size. The Low Islets are a Marine National Park Zone.

Low Island North Queensland is about 25 km north-east of Port Douglas in Trinity Bay, North Queensland. It is around 2 hectares or 0.02 square km in size. Low Island is part of the Low Isles. Low Isles consists of two islands, Woody Island an uninhabited coral/mangrove island, but the main attraction is Low Isle - which is a smaller vegetated, sandy, coral cay surrounded by 55 acres of reef - a "typical" tropical island like you see on the movies. The Low Islets are a Marine National Park Zone.
Mossman, Queensland

Originally known as Mosman — the name was changed to avoid confusion with the Sydney suburb of Mosman — it is located on the Captain Cook Highway 75 km north of the regional city of Cairns, and 15 km east of the Mount Carbine Tableland.

The Bally Hooley Steam Railway is a heritage railway operating in Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia. It operates on approximately 4 km of 610 mm gauge line from the Marina Mirage to Saint Crispin's Station. The railway is operated by a group of volunteers and runs services on Sundays.
Fan Palm Reserve
Fan Palm Reserve is an 8.2 ha nature reserve in Far North Queensland, Australia. It is located in the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Site, 20 km north of Daintree and 40 km north of Mossman. It is owned and managed by Bush Heritage Australia (BHA), by which it was purchased in 1993.
Daintree River Ferry
The Daintree River Ferry is a cable ferry across the Daintree River in Queensland, Australia. The ferry is situated some 50 kilometres north of Port Douglas, and gives access to the northern section of the Daintree National Park and to Cape Tribulation. The ferry provides the only sealed road access to this area. The ferry carries a maximum of 40 vehicles, and takes about 5 minutes to cross the river. It operates from 6am until midnight, seven days a week.
County of Solander
The county of Solander is a cadastral division of Queensland which contains the towns of Ayton, Daintree, Mossman and Port Douglas. It was originally the southern part of the county of Banks when the counties were named and bounded in 1901.
