Northampton County is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of 2010, the population was 12,389. Its county seat is Eastville. Northampton and Accomack Counties comprise the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The county is the center of the late Eocene meteor strike that resulted in the Chesapeake Bay impact crater.

The Anheuser–Busch Coastal Research Center is a biological field station located in Oyster, Virginia that is operated by the University of Virginia. Coast Guard Station Cobb Island
Coast Guard Station Cobb Island is a Coast Guard station that was built on the southern end of Cobb Island in 1936. It was decommissioned in 1964 and sold to the Nature Conservancy in 1973 http://www. nature. org/wherewework/northamerica/states/virginia/press/press3064. html. In 1998, it was relocated to Oyster, VA on Virginia's Eastern Shore and restored by the Nature Conservancy.
