Chittenden County, Vermont

Chittenden County /ˈtʃɪtəndən/ is a county located in the U.S. state of Vermont. As of the 2010 census, the population was 156,545. Its shire town is Burlington. Home to nearly a quarter of Vermont's population, Chittenden is the most populous county in the state, with more than twice as many residents as Vermont's second-most populous county, Rutland. Chittenden County is part of the Burlington-South Burlington, VT Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Essex Junction, Vermont

Essex Junction is a village in the town of Essex in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. The population was 8,591 at the 2000 census. It was incorporated on November 15, 1892. Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides daily service to Essex Junction, which serves as a focal point for rail travel in the greater Burlington area, which includes Essex and Winooski. Amtrak operates its Vermonter from St. Albans, VT to Washington, D.C..

Chittenden Vermont Senate District, 2002–2012

The Chittenden Senate District is one of 13 Vermont Senate districts included in the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Chittenden District includes all of Chittenden County except the town of Colchester (which is in the Grand Isle district).

Reverence (sculpture)

Reverence is a sculpture created by Jim Sardonis in 1989. The sculpture depicts two tails of whales "diving" into a sea of grass and is meant to symbolize the fragility of the planet. The tails were made from 36 tons of African black granite and stand 12-13 feet tall. The sculpture was originally commissioned by British metals trader David Threlkeld, who was then a resident of Randolph, Vermont.

Burlington Air National Guard Base

For the United States Army observation airfield, see Ethan Allen Army Airfield Burlington Air National Guard Base is an Air National Guard installation located in South Burlington, Vermont. It operated as an active duty U.S. Air Force installation from the early 1950s until 1960 as Ethan Allen Air Force Base. Following the closure of Ethan Allen AFB, the installation was transferred to the Vermont Air National Guard for use as an Air National Guard base.
