Tompkins County, New York
Tompkins County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York, and comprises the whole of the Ithaca metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the population was 101,564. The county seat is Ithaca, and the county is home to Cornell University, Ithaca College and Tompkins Cortland Community College. The name is in honor of Daniel D. Tompkins, who served as Governor of New York and Vice President of the United States of America.

Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education
The Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE) is a particle accelerator facility located in Wilson Laboratory on the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, NY. CLASSE formed from the merger of the Cornell High-Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) and the Laboratory for Elementary-Particle Physics (LEPP) in July 2006. Maury Tigner is the chairman of the directorate of the organization.
Balch Hall
Balch Hall is the only remaining all-female dormitory on the North Campus of Cornell University. Technically, Balch Hall consists of four eighty-student halls, hence the more accurate name the Balch Halls, which has fallen out of use. The dormitory is very large and usually has a very quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Balch Hall is only open to female freshman and is divided into sections, known as units, each with a Residential Advisor who helps the new students acclimate themselves with the campus.
Newman Arena
Newman Arena is a 4,473-seat multi-purpose arena at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, located in Bartels Hall, which is adjacent to Lynah Rink. It is home to the Cornell Big Red basketball and volleyball teams. It opened in January 1990, replacing Barton Hall, which was remodeled to become a full-time indoor track venue. It was named for the late F.R. Newman, Class of 1912, a major benefactor to the university.

The Plantations proper consist of 25 acres of botanical gardens and 150 acres of the F.R. Newman Arboretum. Charles F. Berman Field
Charles F. Berman Field is a multi-use stadium in Ithaca, New York on the campus of Cornell University. It is used for soccer and track and field competitions. It is located on a portion of the upper alumni fields. Constructed in 2000, the 1,000 seat stadium is named in honor of former Cornell soccer player Charles F. Berman who was captain of the 1948 Cornell soccer team and a member of the Quill and Dagger society.
Fuertes Observatory
Fuertes Observatory is an observatory located on the North Campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The observatory was completed in fall of 1917 and was originally used by the Civil Engineering Department as an instructional field office for navigation and surveying. With increased building on the North Campus, Fuertes Observatory is no longer used for research but it still used for introductory Astronomy classes usually taught by grad students.
Cornell 100 MPG Team
The Cornell 100+ MPG Team (Formerly Cornell AXP) was the first officially registered university team competing in the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize Competition. The group is made up of over 70 undergraduate and graduate students from six of Cornell University’s seven colleges including the College of Engineering, the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, the College of Human Ecology, and the Johnson Graduate School of Management.
